Anatomical Dolls

Teach-A-BodiesTM offers an array of world-class instructional dolls to help professionals break down barriers when communicating with children.
Originally developed in 1981 to aid in sex education, Teach-A-Bodies anatomically detailed dolls have become a premier resource for professionals in forensic investigations, child and adolescent therapies, and with developmentally disabled and hearing/speech impaired individuals.
These anatomical dolls facilitate understanding both to and from children in ways that overcome a child's limited cognitive and verbal abilities. Toys contribute to a youngster's life by assisting in the interpretation of the world around them. Through play a child discovers how to come to terms with the outside world. According to the Practice Guidelines by the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), when used by a knowledgeable and experienced professional, anatomical dolls can be an effective tool to aid in interviewing children to determine whether an allegation of sexual abuse is likely true, and if so, the nature of the abuse. However, anatomical dolls are only one of many useful tools and cannot take the place of sound interview skills and reasoned clinical judgment.
Teach-A-Bodies products feature Playpeople, life-size dolls, paper dolls, booklets, and the new Draw-a-Bodies line, as well as an extensive collection of doll accessories for the professional therapist, investigator, attorney, and sex-educator. All Teach-A-Bodies products, excluding the booklets, accessories and Draw-a-Bodies, are anatomically correct.
Teach-A-Bodies Products
Teach-A-Bodies Playpeople are soft cuddly dolls made of washable polyester knit and stuffing. They are available in light, medium, and dark colours. Adult, adolescent, child and toddler dolls are made with individual fingers, ears, and have mouth, vaginal and anal openings. The dolls are sold by the pair in each colour. We will also customize your order for a small additional fee. The hair is made of yarn and the facial features and nipples are embroidered. All dolls are sold with age-appropriate clothing and underwear. Nightwear, swimwear, extra underwear, and outerwear may be purchased separately. Different facial features (such as Asian), hair colors, and hairstyles are also available. Please ask us for details if you are interested.
Families
Doll families are available in light, medium, and dark colors.A family consists of two adult dolls, one male and one female, and two children, one male and one female. A family is all the same color. (The picture is of a family with dark skin color.)
The family set can be ordered with the carrying case and the book Teach-A-Bodies: An Effective Resource" or with just the four dolls.
Adult Dolls
Adult dolls are 22" tall and are available in light, medium, and dark colors.Adult dolls have features of mature sexual development. Male dolls are designed with a moustache, chest hair, underarm hair, pubic hair and a circumcised penis. A condom is included with all male dolls, unless otherwise specified.
Female dolls are assembled with a clitoris, underarm hair, pubic hair, and vaginal opening. A baby in utero with attached umbilical cord and placenta, a pair of panties with a sanitary napkin, a tampon, and a condom, may also be purchased.
Grandparent Dolls
Grandparent dolls are 22" tall, and similar to Adult dolls except both have gray hair and embroidered glasses. They are available in light, medium, and dark colors.The grandfather doll is made with a moustache, chest hair, underarm hair, pubic hair and a circumcised penis.
The grandmother doll is made with underarm hair, pubic hair, a vaginal opening, and a clitoris.
Adolescents
Adolescents - 19" tall and are available in light, medium, and dark colors.Adolescent dolls reflect early changes of puberty such as the appearance of pubic and underarm hair and small breast development.
Male dolls include a circumcised penis. Female dolls feature a clitoris and vaginal opening.
Children
Children - 17" tall and are available in light, medium, and dark colors.Children are without body hair. The male doll has a circumcised penis and the female doll has a clitoris and vaginal opening.
Toddlers
Toddlers - 13" tall and are available in light, medium, and dark colors.Toddlers come without body hair. The male doll has a circumcised penis and the female doll has a clitoris and vaginal opening.
Babies
Babies - 6" tall and are available in light, medium, and dark colors.The babies have embroidered fingers, toes, and ears and come with a diaper and receiving blanket. The male doll has an uncircumcised penis and the female doll has a vaginal opening. Babies do not have anal or mouth openings.
Life-size Anatomical Dolls
Schools for the blind have reported tremendous success using these Life-size dolls in teaching sexuality education. Adult Life-size dolls are approximately 5'3" tall and Child Life-size dolls are approximately 3'3" tall.Both are provided with underwear only, but can easily be fitted with regular clothing. Anatomical body parts are in proportion to size and are age-appropriate.
All Life-size dolls are made to order, so please allow several weeks for delivery.
Birth-a-Baby
Birth-a-Baby is a life-size 19" anatomically-detailed male or female newborn. The baby comes inside a cloth uterus with detachable umbilical cord and placenta.
The baby can be removed from the uterus through the cervix or the Caesarean opening. Birth-a-Baby is also available in light, medium, and dark skin tones.
