Pre-reading
and early reading activities for all abilities
Jigworks is not only suitable for early years, it is also ideal for
older learners with special needs. You can move the pieces without
having to hold the mouse button down. It's also switch accessible,
for those who cannot use a mouse. Jigworks' sound support makes it
an ideal tool for pupils with English as a second language.
Jigworks
activities are incredibly versatile. Many examples are included, and
it's very easy to create your own with our easy-to-use activity editor.
You can also download free resources from our LearningGrids.com website.
You
can make interlocking jigsaw activities in seconds using any picture
- such as those from your digital camera. Simply choose a picture
from your computer and choose how many pieces you want, from 4 to
64. You can even include sounds for when you start the jigsaw, when
you complete it, and when you pick up and place a piece.
You
can also cut out pieces of the picture with our easy-to-use activity
editor - these can be any shape or size. For early shape-matching
activities, you can cut out simple shapes from a plain background,
or cut out objects from a digital photograph. For early reading and
writing exercises, you can add letters or words as pieces! You can
make onset and rime activities, or puzzles where children piece together
the letters of their name - and all supported by sound!
Jigworks
also comes with the Crick Picture Library, so you can compose your
own pictures and cut out pieces automatically - and you can also use
your own picture libraries.
You
can create sets of related activities, so children can work independently
through a whole set - or you can work as a group, using an interactive
whiteboard.
